The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced planned power cuts for Thursday, June 18, as it carries out maintenance work in parts of the Central and Accra East Regions.
At the same time, the company is also working to fix network faults causing outages in some areas of Tema.
In the Central Region, some communities and businesses will be without electricity from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
The first group of affected areas includes Brimso Headworks, Akaikrom, Police Barrier, Ankaful Junction, Mpeasem, WAEC, Yayaaikawawo, Wanyiwato, Ankaful Prisons, Ankaful Township, and nearby communities.
The second group includes Ayensodo, Kissi, Komenda, Sefwi Town, Dominase, Sekyere Hemang, Attabadze Town, Brenu Akyim, Eduagyei, Sanka, Bronyibima, Akwanda, and surrounding areas.
These communities will also experience power outages between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm.
ECG said the maintenance work is necessary to improve the electricity supply and apologised for the inconvenience.
In the Accra East Region, another planned maintenance exercise will take place from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The affected areas include Tseaddo Goil Filling Station, Tseaddo Royal Mart, West Trassaco, Trassaco Phase 2, Salem Estates, parts of School Junction, and nearby communities.
This is the second time within a week that these areas have been affected by planned maintenance, following a similar outage on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, residents and businesses in the Tema Region are still dealing with unplanned power cuts caused by network faults.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, ECG said engineers are working to fix a fault affecting several communities, including Bel Acqua, Olam Grains, Ghana Steel, Star Cement, Sethi Realty, Abodakpi Farms, Kpone and nearby areas, Shang Hai, Communities 25 and 26, Kent Estates, ARS, DPS, JDevtraco, Adom Estates, PS Global, Mt Carmel, Bulasu, Ghana Flag, Afienya Zongo, Lebanon Zones 1 to 5, Zenu, Atadeka, Roman Down, Underbridge Market, State School for the Deaf, Kanawu, Safisana, BBF, Sydal Farms, Japan City, Teteman, Santor, King Solomon, Jordan City, Agbeshie Laryea, Aunty Araba, Nelplast, Kubekro, and surrounding communities.
Another network fault has also affected the power supply in Mobole, Gravels, Afienya, Mataheko, Emmanuel Estates, Hot Oven, Melcom, Hisense, LIC, Odumse, Fiankonya, Ladowayo, Christian International School, Wildlife Gate, Shai Hills Military Training Camp, Inzag, Bright Cement, Eastern Quarries, Twin Quarries, Recycling, Mawu Be Ji Be, Dodowa Switching Station, and nearby areas.
ECG assured customers that engineers have been deployed to fix the faults and restore electricity as quickly as possible.
The company has urged customers in all affected areas to remain patient as both planned maintenance works and unexpected faults are being addressed to help provide a more stable and reliable power supply in the future.
