The Ghana Police Service has arrested an individual accused of threatening security personnel and inciting violence in a viral video that circulated on social media.

The accused, named Opoku Emmanuel, was taken into custody on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Jacobu in the Amansie Central District of the Ashanti Region during a collaborative operation involving the Inspector-General of Police’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET) and officers from the Jacobu Police Command.

According to the police, the suspect appeared in a masked video in which he allegedly threatened police and military personnel while cautioning officers against attempting to apprehend armed robbers.

Police stated that the suspect further threatened to kill any officer who engaged him.

The video, which gained attention online, raised concerns regarding threats directed at security personnel and prompted investigations by the police intelligence and cybercrime units.

In a statement, the police confirmed that Opoku Emmanuel is currently in custody, assisting with investigations.

The suspect is anticipated to be presented before the court in the coming days.

Meanwhile, the police have reiterated their commitment to addressing acts of violence, threats, and incitement against security personnel and the public with firmness.
