Former Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Paul Tawiah Quaye, has been reported dead.

The former IGP, recognised for his strong commitment to discipline and his efforts to modernise the Ghana Police Service, is said to have passed away after a period of illness.

The cause of his death is still unknown, as the family has yet to release an official statement on his passing.

Meanwhile, some senior police officials have begun to express their condolences to the former dedicated law enforcement officer.

Paul Tawiah Quaye was appointed as Inspector-General of Police by the late President John Evans Atta Mills in 2009.

Throughout his tenure, he was acknowledged for initiating various programmes designed to restore public trust in the police and to ensure that officers maintained the highest standards of professional behaviour.

Often described by his peers as a gentle giant due to his composed demeanour and authoritative leadership, Mr. Quaye retired from the Ghana Police Service in 2013 after many years of devoted service.
