Turkish side Trabzonspor are eager to keep André Onana beyond the current season after being impressed with his performances on loan from Manchester United.
Club president Ertuğrul Doğan is reportedly ready to open discussions with Manchester United if the goalkeeper confirms his desire to stay. However, the Turkish club remains uncertain about whether they can meet the financial demands required to secure a permanent transfer.
Onana joined Trabzonspor in September 2025 on a season-long loan after a difficult spell at Manchester United. The goalkeeper had struggled for consistency at Old Trafford following his high-profile move in 2023, which led to him losing his place in the starting lineup.
Since moving to Turkey, the Cameroon international has shown signs of returning to form. His performances have included important saves and improved confidence between the posts, which have caught the attention of the club’s management and supporters. While not flawless, his overall displays have been strong enough to convince Trabzonspor that he could play a key role in their long-term plans.
Trabzonspor are currently third on the league log, pushing to improve their position in the Turkish Süper Lig, as they aim to compete more strongly for European qualification. The club sees Onana’s experience at top-level football, including spells with Ajax, Inter Milan, and Manchester United, as a valuable asset.
Despite their interest, completing a permanent deal could be challenging. Manchester United is expected to demand a significant transfer fee, and the goalkeeper’s wages may also be a major factor in negotiations.
