The Norwegian Football Federation (NFF) has donated all proceeds and ticket revenue from their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Israel to Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières, MSF) to support emergency humanitarian efforts in Gaza.
The federation said the funds will be used to provide emergency medical treatment, essential healthcare services, and humanitarian assistance to civilians affected by the ongoing conflict in the Palestinian territory.
The donation comes at a time when humanitarian organisations continue to warn of worsening conditions in Gaza, where hospitals and healthcare facilities are struggling to cope with shortages of medical supplies, equipment and personnel.
Doctors Without Borders has repeatedly called for greater international support, saying many civilians are unable to access lifesaving medical care due to the conflict.
In addition to the federation’s contribution, a Norwegian company also donated more than 3 million Norwegian kroner (approximately US$305,000) to support the same humanitarian effort.
The combined donations are expected to strengthen emergency medical operations and provide critical aid to people displaced or injured by the fighting.
The Norwegian Football Federation said the decision reflects its commitment to using football as a platform to promote solidarity and support people facing humanitarian crises.
The governing body believes sport has a responsibility to contribute positively beyond the pitch, especially during times of global hardship.
