Netflix secures exclusive 2030 World Cup rights in Spain and Andorra

Netflix has secured exclusive broadcasting rights to the 2030 FIFA World Cup in Spain and Andorra, marking a major step in the streaming platform’s expansion into live football coverage.

The agreement, announced on Tuesday, October 13, will allow Netflix to stream all 104 matches of the tournament live in the two territories.

Coverage will include pre-match programmes, half-time analysis, post-match discussions, daily highlights and additional content in the build-up to the competition, which will mark 100 years since the inaugural World Cup in Uruguay in 1930.

Despite securing exclusive streaming rights, Netflix will make one match per matchday available free of charge in Spain.

A package featuring every Spain match, both semi-finals and the final, will also be offered to a national free-to-air broadcaster, with further details expected closer to the tournament.

The 2030 World Cup will be jointly hosted by Spain, Portugal and Morocco, while Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay will stage special matches to commemorate the tournament’s centenary.

The deal represents Netflix’s first major agreement to broadcast a men’s international football tournament in Spain and reinforces its growing interest in live sports.

The company already holds broadcasting rights for the 2027 and 2031 FIFA Women’s World Cups in the United States and Canada.
