GFA approves 14 venues ahead of 2026/27 Ghana Premier League

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has approved 14 venues for use in the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season following inspections and clearance by its Club Licensing Department.

The approved list, released as of August 17, 2026, includes some of the country’s major football facilities as clubs prepare for the start of the new league campaign.

Among the venues cleared by the GFA are the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale, Accra Sports Stadium, University of Ghana Sports Stadium, Duns Park in Bibiani and Nsenkyire Sports Arena in Sambreboi.

The TnA Stadium in Tarkwa has also been approved, alongside Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park in Bechem, AAK II Sports Arena and Tuba Astro Turf.

Other facilities on the approved list are Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, Golden City Park in Berekum, Nana Boamah Darko II Park in Kukurantumi and Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi.

The approval of the venues is an important part of the preparations for the new Premier League season, as clubs are required to play their home matches at facilities that meet the GFA’s licensing and safety requirements.

The 2026/27 Ghana Premier League is scheduled to begin between September 4 and 7, 2026, with 18 clubs set to compete over a 30-week league campaign.

The season is expected to conclude between May 28 and 31, 2027.

The GFA has maintained the competition’s existing format, with most league matches expected to be played during weekends to encourage greater attendance and allow supporters to follow their clubs.

Midweek fixtures will mainly be used to clear postponed or outstanding matches; a scheduling approach intended to prevent unnecessary congestion and ensure clubs have adequate preparation and recovery time.
