Chelsea important, but my focus is Coventry – Lampard

Former Chelsea player and coach, Frank Lampard has not completely ruled out a possible return to Chelsea FC, but insists his full focus remains on his current job at Coventry City FC.

Speaking after an impressive season with Coventry, Lampard made it clear that while Chelsea will always hold a special place in his life, he is committed to enjoying the present moment with his team.

His comments come amid ongoing discussions about managerial stability at Chelsea after Liam Rosenior’s exit, a club he previously managed.

“I’d like to think Coventry fans would just be enjoying where we are,” Lampard said.

“In the world of management, lots are out of your control. You just control your work.”

His words reflect a calm and measured approach, choosing not to be drawn into speculation about his future.

Lampard has guided Coventry through a strong campaign, earning praise for his leadership and the team’s performance for securing a spot in the premier league next season.

He highlighted the importance of staying grounded and appreciating the progress made so far.

“At the minute, I think we should just enjoy where we are. We’ve had an amazing season and I am really proud and pleased to be part of it,” he added.

Despite the speculation linking him back to Chelsea, Lampard avoided making any firm statements about a return. Instead, he emphasized his satisfaction with his current role.

“I enjoy what I’m doing here. I can’t control who worries or not,” he said, suggesting that outside noise will not distract him.

Chelsea remains a significant chapter in Lampard’s career, both as a legendary player and former manager. However, he was quick to draw a line between past and present.

“Chelsea is a big part of my life and at the moment that’s their business and my business is here,” he stated.

For now, Lampard appears focused on building something meaningful at Coventry, while leaving the door slightly open for whatever the future may bring.
