Champions of GPL 2026/27 will receive GH¢2 million – Kurt Okraku

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced a major financial package for Ghana Premier League clubs as part of efforts to strengthen the domestic game and make the competition more competitive.

GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku disclosed the details during the 32nd Ordinary Session of Congress at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram on Thursday, August 20, 2026.

He said each of the 18 Ghana Premier League clubs received GH¢1 million before the start of the 2025/26 season through the GFA’s partnership with Adesa Productions Limited.

According to the GFA President, the investment was intended to improve the financial stability of clubs and create better conditions for them to operate and compete.

“This was a bold statement of intent to empower our clubs, improve their financial stability, and create the conditions necessary for sustained growth and competitiveness,” he said.

The GFA has also introduced an enhanced reward structure for clubs based on their performance in the league. The champions of the 2026/27 season will receive a record GH¢2 million.

The runners-up will receive GH¢1 million, while the third- and fourth-placed teams will take home GH¢800,000 and GH¢750,000 respectively.

Beyond the top four, the association has created a wider incentive package to ensure more clubs benefit financially from their performance. A total of 15 out of the 18 participating clubs will receive financial rewards, with the overall package amounting to GH¢9.5 million.
