Lisandro Martínez has sent a strong warning to the rest of the world ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, saying Argentina are not satisfied with what they have already achieved.
The tough defender, who plays for Argentina national football team and Manchester United, said the reigning world champions are fully focused on defending their title in the United States, Canada and Mexico next year.
Speaking about Argentina’s mindset, Martínez said: “To me, we have not won anything. In my head, I go to the World Cup thinking that we still haven’t won anything. We know we’ve won everything, but we’re prepared to go and win it all again.”
The comments show the winning mentality inside the squad led by Lionel Scaloni. Since 2021, Argentina have enjoyed one of the most successful periods in their football history.
The team won the 2021 Copa América, the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and the 2024 Copa América. Martínez was part of all those triumphs and has become an important figure in the team.
The 28-year-old defender, known for his aggressive style and leadership at the back, has built a reputation as one of the most passionate players in world football.
His mentality has also impressed many fans at Manchester United, where he is admired for his fighting spirit and commitment.
Argentina are expected to enter the 2026 World Cup as one of the favourites once again, especially with stars like Lionel Messi, Emiliano Martínez and Lautaro Martínez still leading the team.
There is also growing belief that Messi could play in what may become his final World Cup appearance.
