Tamale: FDA seizes over 5,000 unapproved diapers

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has seized more than 5,000 packs of unapproved and potentially harmful baby diapers from markets in the Tamale Metropolis.

The enforcement exercise forms part of efforts by the Authority to protect public health, particularly that of infants, amid concerns over the influx of unregistered products being sold to unsuspecting consumers.

During the operation, FDA officials inspected shops and market outlets across the metropolis, checking baby diaper brands for proper registration, accurate labelling and compliance with safety standards.

The exercise uncovered several products that were unregistered, poorly labelled or lacked FDA approval, raising concerns about their safety and quality.
