The Member of Parliament for Akuapem North, Sammi Awuku, has said that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will change its political strategy as it prepares for the 2028 general elections.

Speaking on April 22, 2026, he explained that the party is taking time to reflect and reorganise after the 2024 elections.

He said the NPP wants to rebuild trust, strengthen its internal systems, and improve how it connects with voters.

“There will be a shift in strategy to win 2028,” he said.

Mr Awuku noted that the party will focus more on grassroots mobilisation. He said the NPP plans to improve communication and stay in regular contact with party members, industry players, and the general public.

He added that the party wants to get closer to communities so it can better understand their needs and respond with practical solutions.

“Mahamudu Bawumia is engaging with people to understand their problems and know how they are doing,” he said.

He also stressed the need for better coordination within the party. He said communicators, organisers, and leaders must work together and deliver a clear and consistent message.

Mr Awuku added that the party’s success in 2028 will depend on discipline, unity, and strong mobilisation at every level.

He revealed that the NPP is reviewing its past campaign methods and adopting new approaches to improve how it reaches voters and manages its activities.

“The focus is to listen more, engage more, and organise better,” he said.

He expressed confidence that the party can reposition itself strongly ahead of the next elections.
