Primetime Limited, organisers of the National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ), have changed the schedule for the 2026 regional competitions.
They will now hold the contests after the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), instead of before, as done in previous years.
The organisers made this decision after reviewing the WASSCE timetable and consulting with the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS).
They agreed that students need enough time to concentrate on their final exams without distractions.
The new plan allows candidates to focus fully on their studies before taking part in the quiz. Organisers believe this change will reduce pressure on students and improve their overall performance.
Under the updated schedule, the regional competitions will begin after WASSCE. The national championship will follow immediately after the regional stage.
The organisers said they will release more information soon. They will provide details on the structure and timelines for the 2026 edition in due course.
Primetime Limited produces the National Science & Maths Quiz, while the Ghana Education Service (GES) proudly sponsors the competition.
