NPP’s Future Is You – Afoko To TESCON

National Chairman aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Awentami Paul Afoko, has urged members of the Tertiary Students Confederacy Network (TESCON) to perceive themselves as the future leaders of the party, rather than just a group engaged in online political activities.

At the Blue Dialogue event organised by KNUST TESCON under the theme “Energising the Base for Victory 2028,” Mr. Afoko emphasised that TESCON is the party’s most significant platform for leadership development and should be regarded as a nurturing ground for future national leaders.

He encouraged members to accept their roles as thinkers and innovators who will influence the future trajectory of both the NPP and Ghana.

“You are not merely a student wing of the party; you are the intellectual engine of our party. You are the leadership pipeline of tomorrow, and I hope you understand what you’ve got yourselves into. It is not just social media interactions and all that,” he stated.

Mr. Afoko asserted that TESCON members should aim to become policymakers, professionals, entrepreneurs, and national leaders capable of propelling the country’s development.

“You are policy thinkers; you’re innovators, professionals, entrepreneurs, parliamentarians, ministers and national leaders of the future. I am not just saying this because I’m talking to you. I am saying this because it is a reality and a fact of life,” he remarked.

He urged the students to start preparing themselves for greater responsibilities if they have not already begun.

“If you haven’t factored this into what you’re doing, then please begin now to think seriously about this. I dare say that we have within TESCON future presidents of Ghana,” he added.

Mr. Afoko also called upon the student body to become a centre for ideas and innovation, contending that Ghana’s current challenges necessitate fresh perspectives and practical solutions from the upcoming generation of leaders.

He said TESCON should position itself as a platform where policies are debated, solutions are developed, and leadership skills are nurtured to help address the country’s socio-economic challenges.
