The Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, has launched a sharp attack on the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), claiming the party has failed to meet the expectations of Ghanaians.
He also appealed to members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to put aside their differences and stand together as preparations for the 2028 elections begin.
Addressing NPP supporters in Sefwi-Wiawso in the Western North Region on Saturday, June 20, Afenyo-Markin focused on the importance of party unity. He urged grassroots members to remain committed, strengthen their support base, and work collectively toward the party’s political comeback.
The Effutu MP argued that the NDC has not delivered the results many voters anticipated after winning the 2024 elections.
According to him, the ruling party has fallen short of the commitments it made during the campaign period.
“We should ask ourselves, is the NDC delivering on its promises? The NDC is a complete scam. They are 419 people. They come to you and lie to you and when you give them power, they do nothing.
“But they can only achieve that if we ourselves are divided. So today, in Sefwi-Wiawso, I speak to the entire region on behalf of the flagbearer, on behalf of Parliament, on behalf of all the elders of the party and plead with you to unite.”
Beyond criticising the government, Afenyo-Markin challenged supporters to pay close attention to national issues and actively engage in conversations about governance in their local communities.
He maintained that a united opposition would be better positioned to hold the government accountable and compete effectively in future elections.
His message centred on solidarity, urging party faithful to remain focused and avoid internal divisions that could weaken the NPP’s chances in the years ahead.
