New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Communications Director aspirant Dennis Miracles Aboagye says the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) could be voted out after just one term if Ghanaians are dissatisfied with its performance.
Mr Aboagye said the NDC’s status as a first-term government does not guarantee it a second term, stressing that voters will judge the party based on its record in office.
He noted that although President John Dramani Mahama is serving his second term, the NDC is currently in its first term of the latest administration.
Mr Aboagye said Ghanaian voters have become more discerning and will assess the government’s performance before deciding how to vote in the 2028 general election.
“You are performing poorly. The people will remove you,” he said, arguing that the NDC could lose power if it fails to meet the expectations of citizens.
He rejected the idea that first-term governments automatically enjoy an electoral advantage, saying elections are increasingly influenced by how voters feel about a government at the time of voting.
According to him, the NPP’s strategy ahead of 2028 will include presenting Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s proposed solutions to the country’s challenges while scrutinising the NDC administration’s record and campaign promises.
He maintained that the electorate will ultimately decide whether the NDC deserves another term based on its performance.
