The Newmont Ahafo Development Foundation (NADeF) has commenced major infrastructure projects at Adrobaa Technical Institute as part of efforts to improve teaching and learning conditions and strengthen technical and vocational education delivery in the Ahafo Region.
The projects form part of the foundation’s broader commitment to improving educational infrastructure within Newmont’s host communities and supporting skills development among young people.
According to reports, the intervention includes the construction of a two-storey dormitory block, renovation of a four-unit classroom block, and the construction of a six-seater lavatory facility at the institute.
The projects were disclosed during an inspection tour of ongoing NADeF interventions at Adrobaa, Terchire, Susuanso, and Yamfo in the Ahafo Region.
Speaking during the inspection, the Kyidomhene of Adrobaa, Nana Addo Boamah, commended the foundation for responding to the deteriorating condition of the school’s infrastructure.
According to him, the poor state of the institute’s facilities had become a major concern for the community and had negatively affected effective teaching and learning.
“The state of the school is very poor and an eyesore, so for the foundation to begin the construction of a two-storey dormitory block, the renovation of a four-unit classroom block, and the construction of a six-seater lavatory is a good step for the school,” he stated.
Nana Addo Boamah expressed optimism that the projects would significantly improve academic activities and student welfare once completed and handed over to school authorities.
He further disclosed that traditional leaders and residents of the area regularly monitor project sites to ensure that contractors deliver quality work and complete projects on schedule.
The intervention is expected to ease congestion, improve sanitation, and create a more conducive learning environment for students pursuing technical and vocational education at the institute.
NADeF’s latest investment also aligns with growing national efforts to strengthen Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as a key pathway for youth employment, entrepreneurship, and industrial development.
