Fear and shock have enveloped the residents of Adomanu in the Adansi North District following the unfortunate demise of a 46-year-old farmer who was reportedly struck by lightning amidst a heavy downpour.

The incident transpired yesterday evening at approximately 6:30 pm. As per local reports, the deceased was inside his room utilizing a mobile phone when the lightning struck, resulting in his immediate death.

Community members, in conversations with Adom News, characterized the atmosphere as one filled with profound mourning and apprehension.

In the aftermath of the tragedy, several residents have urged property owners to prioritize the installation of lightning arresters or conductors during the construction of buildings to mitigate the risks associated with electrical storms.

Nana Wireko Kyenkyehene, the Adomanu Krontihene and Regent, conveyed his condolences, referring to the young man’s death as a significant loss to the community.

He issued a serious warning to the general public, advising individuals to avoid using mobile phones during rainstorms to safeguard their well-being.

The tragedy acts as a grave reminder of the hazards posed by lightning, as local leaders persist in advocating for heightened public awareness regarding safety measures during severe weather conditions.
