Six people have been arrested in Kumasi as the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) steps up efforts to enforce sanitation laws across the city.
The arrests were made during an ongoing sanitation exercise in the Dichemso Electoral Area.
The operation forms part of the Assembly’s renewed campaign to ensure residents and businesses comply with environmental health and sanitation regulations.
The suspects are expected to be taken to court to face charges in line with the law.
The exercise was carried out by KMA sanitation officers with support from military personnel.
The team moved through parts of the community, inspecting areas and arresting people suspected of breaking sanitation rules.
During the operation, several shops were also shut down after inspections revealed they were operating in unhygienic conditions, contrary to sanitation and public health regulations.
