President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Emelia Afi Agbenyo, Deputy Director for Operations at the Ghana TVET Service, and Dr. Joseph Kweku Asamoah, a former Director of Finance at the Electoral Commission (EC), to serve as Deputy Chairpersons of the commission.
Dr. Asamoah, who teaches law at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has previously served in several senior roles at the EC, including Director of Finance, Director of the Training Centre and Head of Audit.
The appointments come amid changes in the commission’s top leadership. These include the resignation of Dr. Bossman Asare, who oversaw Corporate Affairs, effective July 31, 2026, and the retirement of Samuel Tettey, the former Deputy Chairperson responsible for Operations, after attaining the mandatory retirement age.
The newly appointed officials are expected to occupy the positions left vacant by their predecessors and reinforce the commission’s leadership as it continues to discharge its electoral duties.
