A domestic fire has destroyed the contents of a room and damaged parts of a house at Teshie Penny in the Ledzokuku Municipality after a fire broke out on the evening of July 29.
According to a Facebook post by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), firefighters from the Trade Fair Fire Station quickly responded to the emergency and brought the fire under control before it could spread to nearby houses in the densely populated community.
The fire completely destroyed one room of the house, reducing all the items inside to ashes.
Furniture, household items, and other personal belongings in the room were lost, leaving the occupants with significant property damage.
The hall and kitchen were also affected by the fire and smoke. Although those parts of the house were not completely destroyed, they suffered damage from the heat, smoke, and firefighting efforts.
Thanks to the quick response of the firefighters, the fire was stopped before it could destroy the entire building.
The emergency team worked quickly to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby homes, where there was a high risk of a much bigger fire because the buildings are close to each other.
The Ghana National Fire Service said firefighters were able to save the remaining parts of the affected house from further damage.
They also protected a nearby self-contained apartment and a five-bedroom house, preventing more families from losing their homes and belongings.
The successful operation greatly reduced the impact of the fire and showed the importance of a fast emergency response.
Fortunately, no one was injured or killed in the incident. All the occupants were safe as firefighters focused on putting out the fire and protecting nearby buildings.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
The Ghana National Fire Service has begun investigations to find out what caused the fire. Officials say the findings will help determine how the incident happened and improve future fire prevention efforts.
The Service has advised residents to regularly check their electrical wiring, avoid unsafe electrical connections, handle naked flames carefully, and quickly fix any potential fire hazards.
It also encouraged the public to report fire outbreaks immediately through the appropriate emergency channels, stressing that early reporting helps firefighters respond quickly and reduce damage.
