EOCO boss defends EOCO’s PDS investigations

The Executive Secretary of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), Raymond Archer, has defended the agency’s ongoing investigations into the PDS saga, saying the process is being handled carefully and professionally.

Speaking on Saturday, May 9, Mr Archer stated that EOCO continues to follow evidence and due process as it investigates the long-running case, which has recently attracted renewed public attention.

His comments come as Ghana intensifies efforts to fight corruption, especially following fresh arrests connected to the PDS matter.

The latest developments have once again brought focus to alleged financial irregularities linked to transactions involving the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

The issue has also gained more attention after authorities re-arrested a former NAFCO boss shortly after charges against him were withdrawn in court.

The development has triggered legal and constitutional debates about how prosecutions are being handled.

“We are doing a very professional and methodical work at EOCO into this PDS probe,” Mr Archer stated, stressing that the investigations are being conducted fairly and without bias.

Government officials insist that the recent actions are based on fresh evidence gathered during the investigations.

However, some critics believe the speed and manner of the prosecutions could weaken public trust in the justice system.
