Security analyst Ivan Kyei Innocent has called for a non-partisan approach to the fight against drug trafficking, saying the issue should not be turned into a political contest.
Speaking on the recent drug busts, he said the increasing concerns over narcotics trafficking require a coordinated national response rather than political arguments.
According to him, Ghana must strengthen its security systems and tighten controls at the country’s borders to prevent the trafficking of illicit drugs.
He stressed the need for security agencies to improve surveillance and border controls, particularly at points through which narcotics could enter or leave the country.
Ivan Kyei Innocent said protecting Ghana from the effects of drug trafficking should be treated as a national security priority involving all relevant institutions.
He urged stakeholders to focus on practical measures that can strengthen Ghana’s ability to detect and prevent the movement of illicit drugs across its borders.
