A long-running dispute over a romantic relationship ended in tragedy after a 35-year-old man allegedly butchered his aunt’s boyfriend to death at Atwere Bebiaa Ne Ha, near Awutu Obrachire in the Central Region.
According to reports, the suspect had on several occasions warned the deceased to end his romantic relationship with his aunt.
The disagreement is said to have escalated into a confrontation that ended in the man’s death.
The deceased’s brother, Kojo Bentum, confirmed the incident in an interview with the media and recounted the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
Following the incident, officers from the Awutu Bawjiase District Police Command arrested the suspect, who is currently assisting with investigations.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
Reacting to the incident, the Acting Head of Family of Awutu Bebiaa Ne Ha, Nana Kweku Asare, expressed shock upon learning of the killing.
The incident has left residents of the community stunned, with many expressing concern over the growing number of violent disputes linked to personal relationships.
Police have launched a full investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
