Bawumia donates GH¢50k to St. Jude Catholic Church at Weija

Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has donated GH¢50,000 to support the activities of St. Jude Catholic Church at Weija.

The donation is part of Dr. Bawumia’s continued support for the church. He had earlier contributed to the construction of the church building, including an eight-seater washroom equipped with facilities for persons with disabilities.

Dr. Bawumia was honoured during a Holy Mass held to recognise his contributions to the church. He also officially commissioned the newly constructed washroom facility.

During his visit, Dr Bawumia also toured the Weija Leprosarium, where he met and interacted with patients and assured them of his continued support.

After the ceremony, he presented the GH¢50,000 to the church and promised to continue supporting its activities.

“Father Campbell is an extraordinary person. He’s a true man of God, and he cares about the poor, the needy, the hungry, the lepers, the street children, the sick, and this is something I also care deeply about.

“So when he told me, when I came to see that he was putting up this church, I said, ‘Father, I will help you to complete this church,’ and provided the required resources. I’m so happy to see the church today. It is very beautiful,” he said.

Reacting to the donation, Fr Andrew Campbell praised Dr Bawumia for his generosity and concern for people who need help.

“Dr. Bawumia has that empathy towards needy and sick people. I’ve noticed it in the way he interacts when he comes and meets all those who had leprosy. Today, you saw him; he shook hands with everybody, hugged them and shook hands with them. He’s helping so many people because he has love for humanity,” he said.
