A tragic early morning fire has claimed the life of a 15-year-old boy and destroyed a six-room house at Suame Post Office in the Suame Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
The victim, identified as Alhasan Asan, was trapped inside the building when the fire started around 1:00 a.m. while residents were asleep.
Neighbours made desperate efforts to save him, but he could not escape the flames.
The boy’s aunt, Nana Akua, said the fire spread quickly through the house, giving residents little time to rescue their belongings or help Alhasan.
The fire destroyed household items, furniture, electrical appliances, and other personal belongings worth thousands of cedis.
The incident has left residents of Suame Post Office in deep sorrow.
Many described Alhasan as a quiet, respectful, and well-behaved boy whose sudden death has shocked the community.
Firefighters from the Breman Fire Station of the Ghana National Fire Service responded to the scene and managed to bring the fire under control.
However, some residents claimed that the fire tender arrived at the scene without water at first, which delayed efforts to put out the flames.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
The police have taken the burnt remains of the victim to the morgue for preservation as investigations into the incident continue.
