One person has died while four others have sustained injuries following a fatal road crash involving a Kia VIP Grandbird bus and a MAN diesel truck on the Accra-Kumasi Highway.
The accident occurred at Frimpongso, with firefighters from the Anyinam Fire Station responding swiftly to rescue victims trapped inside the vehicles.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the emergency team successfully freed two occupants who were trapped after the collision. The victims were later assisted and transported for medical attention.
However, one male victim was pronounced dead at the hospital, while four others who sustained various degrees of injuries are currently receiving treatment.
Preliminary investigations by authorities suggest that the crash happened when the VIP bus collided with the rear of a faulty truck that had been parked along the roadside.
Reports indicate that the bus was attempting to overtake another vehicle when it crashed into the stationary truck.
The impact caused significant damage to the front portion of the VIP bus, while the rear section of the truck also suffered damage.
The GNFS Eastern Region Public Relations Officer confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, and praised the swift response of firefighters who worked to rescue the victims and prevent further casualties.
