DRIP tipper truck involved in accident

A tipper truck among the DRIP machines owned by the Oforikrom Municipal Assembly has been involved in a significant accident after the DRIP Coordinator allegedly utilised it for personal purposes.

The truck reportedly collided with a building at Konkoli near Trede in the Atwima Kwanwoma District, damaging a Benz vehicle with the registration number GW-7851-Z.

This incident is currently causing considerable unrest at the Oforikrom Municipal Assembly, as some people are demanding the resignation of the DRIP Coordinator, Raphael Tampuri, and the MCE.

In an interview monitored by The Ghana Report, the DRIP Coordinator was operating the machine for a business outside the Assembly’s designated responsibilities under the supervision of the MCE.

“The truck was being used to transport sand at the Trede enclave when it crashed into the building, and we have every reason to believe they were using it for personal business,” the source said.

“Earlier on, we were told at the Assembly that the truck had developed a fault and was out for repairs, only for it to get involved in an accident,” the source added.

“The accident occurred on a holiday, April 5, 2026, Easter Monday, when all official government work had been put on hold due to the holiday,” the source noted.

The source revealed that the truck has since been towed to a garage at Suame Magazine for repairs.

When reached for comment, Mr. Tampuri stated that the matter in question is being addressed by several high-ranking officials, adding that he cannot discuss the issue at this time.
