A devastating fire has torn through Adum, a busy commercial area in Kumasi, destroying several shops and leaving many traders in distress this morning.
The fire is reported to have started late in the night and spread quickly through the tightly packed shops. Many of the affected traders sell clothes, electronics, and household goods.
Due to the intensity of the flames, several items were completely burnt, leading to heavy financial losses.
Eyewitnesses said the fire moved rapidly before the Ghana Fire Service (GNFS) arrived.
Personnel from the GNFS were called to the scene and worked for hours to bring the situation under control.
Their efforts helped prevent the fire from spreading further to nearby buildings and shops.
Some traders tried to salvage their goods but were forced to flee as the fire intensified.
By morning, many shop owners were seen at the scene, shocked and heartbroken as they assessed the damage. For some, it was their only source of income.
Meanwhile, the exact cause of the fire is not yet known, but officials say investigations have begun.
There are early concerns that an electrical fault could have triggered the incident, although this has not been confirmed.
