Veteran actress Grace Nortey reported dead

Renowned veteran Ghanaian actress Grace Nortey has passed away at the age of 89.

The cause of her death is yet to be disclosed by the family.

Grace Nortey was among Ghana’s most esteemed personalities in theatre, film, and television, with a career spanning over five decades.

She portrayed numerous lead roles on Ghanaian television and became a well-known figure to audiences through her contributions to drama and film, earning recognition as one of the stalwarts of Ghanaian theatre and drama.

Her extensive acting career featured appearances in several prominent productions, including Lost Hope, Dza Gbele, Matters of the Heart, Sekina, Expectations, and Jewels.

She also appeared in internationally recognised films such as Beasts of No Nation (2015), which starred Abraham Attah as Agu, as well as Ties That Bind (2011) and Sinking Sands (2011).

Other significant credits include Nana Akoto (1985), Escape to Love (1996), and The Other Side of the Rich (1992), among others.

Grace Nortey’s passing signifies the loss of a veteran who devoted decades to Ghana’s creative industry and played a pivotal role in shaping the country’s theatre, television, and film landscape.
