Content creator Gisela Amponsah has expressed her views on the increasing dialogue regarding social media pressure, indicating that she does not entirely comprehend why certain individuals feel influenced by the lifestyles of influencers.
Speaking in an interview, Gisela recognised that while numerous young individuals confess to experiencing pressure from what they observe online, she believes the appropriate response should be one of inspiration.
The 26-year-old influencer shared that her own path into content creation was motivated by a relative who was already involved in the industry.
Rather than feeling daunted, she stated that she opted to focus on the opportunities and advantages of this career trajectory.
“I had a cousin who was into influencing at that time. I saw the benefits she was getting from it… I didn’t feel like she was putting pressure on me. I wanted to do it too,” she said on TV3.
Gisela pointed out that individuals frequently compare their achievements to those of others without recognising that the paths to success vary from one person to another. In her view, what is effective for one person may not be suitable for another.
“What works for someone will not work for you. Some people do so well in other fields… I found my calling, which is influencing.”
She also highlighted that her content is not produced with the aim of making others feel inferior but rather to chronicle her journey and development over time.
“I’m not intentionally coming online to pressure anyone. My motive is not to pressure Ghanaians.’”
Additionally, she emphasised that success is not confined to influencing and encouraging young individuals to investigate various fields and follow their passions.
“There are so many things you can make a living out of and excel at. It shouldn’t be pressure.”
