Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has encouraged people to exercise discretion when discussing their plans, projects and ambitions, saying not every move requires public announcement.
In a social media post, the award-winning rapper argued that sharing plans prematurely can expose them to unnecessary opinions, doubt and negativity before they have had the opportunity to take shape.
“Every idea don’t need an announcement. Every move don’t need a conversation. Every dream don’t need a committee,” Sarkodie wrote.
He cautioned that repeatedly telling people what they intend to do can also create pressure when those plans do not materialise.
Sarkodie further warned that not everyone who listens to another person’s ambitions has their best interests at heart.
“Some people don’t want to see you win. Some people will laugh in your face and secretly hope it never works,” he said.
According to the rapper, excessive discussion of personal ambitions can also give others an opportunity to undermine a person’s confidence or influence them to abandon their vision.
He therefore encouraged people to focus on execution rather than constantly discussing their next move.
“Shut up and work. Move in silence. Make the calls. Build the business. Start the project. Make the money. Change your life,” he said.
Sarkodie also urged people to allow their achievements to introduce their plans instead of providing a preview of everything they hope to accomplish.
“You don’t owe anybody a preview of what God put in your spirit,” he added.
Sarkodie further emphasised that the value of tangible achievements over plans that are only discussed.
“Results speak louder than plans ever will,” he said.
