Twenty-two people have been injured in a road accident at Sege after a Sprinter bus suffered a tyre burst and overturned on Friday, October 9, 2026.
The accident happened at about 11:30 a.m. Personnel from the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana National Fire Service, together with some residents, rushed to the scene to help the victims.
An eyewitness, Evans Doetse Huago, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the bus, with registration number GW 569-26, was travelling from Aflao to Accra when its left rear tyre burst.
According to him, the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and overturn. Several passengers were injured in the accident, including the driver.
Mr Huago said the injured victims were taken to the Sege Polyclinic for medical treatment with the help of police and fire service personnel.
He also explained that the bus was carrying a heavy load, with goods packed in both the boot and on the roof. This raised concerns about whether the extra weight may have put too much pressure on the tyres.
Meanwhile, a welder working near the accident scene quickly came to the victims’ aid. He brought a tipper truck to help move the goods from the overturned bus to a safe place.
The police also made arrangements to remove the damaged vehicle from the scene.
