The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has directed all members and aspirants participating in its ongoing reorganisation exercise to remove oversized campaign posters and banners within five days.
The directive, issued by the party’s Functional Executive Committee (FEC), sets a maximum size of five feet wide by eight feet high for campaign posters and banners. The party has warned that deliberate non-compliance will attract disciplinary action.
In a statement issued on Friday, October 9, and signed by the party’s General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the NDC expressed concern over the mounting of oversized campaign materials by some members and aspirants at various locations across the country.
The party said the decision followed deliberations at an FEC meeting held on Tuesday, October 6, where members discussed measures to maintain order and discipline throughout the reorganisation process.
According to the statement, the restrictions are also aimed at ensuring a level playing field for all aspirants contesting various positions within the party.
The FEC further directed that campaign posters and banners be displayed exclusively at approved locations, including constituency offices, regional offices and designated election grounds.
The directive prohibits the placement of campaign materials at locations outside those authorised by the party as part of efforts to regulate publicity activities during the reorganisation exercise.
The NDC also emphasised that its position reflects the need for the party, as the governing political organisation, to demonstrate modesty and restraint in its activities.
“FEC is further conscious that, as the party in government, the NDC must lead by example through modesty and restraint and must avoid any display of extravagance or perception of it that is inconsistent with the values we espouse and the expectations of the Ghanaian people”.
