Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has paid a working visit to the National U-15 Boys Team as preparations continue for the maiden FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival in Azerbaijan.
The tournament is scheduled to take place in Baku from October 22 to 31, 2026, and will mark the first edition of FIFA’s global U-15 competition.
During his visit, Simeon-Okraku urged the young players to remain disciplined, focused and committed as they prepare for the historic tournament.
He encouraged the team to make the most of the opportunity by maintaining high standards in training and showing the discipline needed to compete at the international level.
The U-15 team, coached by Fatawu Salifu Fatawu, has intensified its preparations through a number of friendly matches as the technical team continues to assess the players and shape the squad.
In their latest outings, the team faced the John Paintsil Academy in two friendly matches and recorded impressive victories in both encounters. Ghana won the first game 5-1 before securing a 6-1 victory in the second match.
The matches provided the coaching staff with further opportunities to evaluate the players while improving their understanding of the tactical demands of the competition.
The team has also been in camp preparing for the eight-a-side tournament, which introduces a different format to FIFA’s youth football calendar.
Unlike the traditional 11-a-side game, the competition will feature a modified and faster format aimed at increasing ball-in-play time and encouraging quicker decision-making among young players.
