Four people have died in a road accident at Esuehyia Junction on the Apam-Mankesim Highway in the Central Region.
The crash happened at about 10 p.m. on Sunday, September 13, 2026, and involved a Toyota Vitz with registration number GM 3758-26 and a DAF passenger bus with foreign registration number SGB 897XB.
The Central Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said firefighters from the Mankesim Fire Station were called to the scene after the accident.
When they arrived, they found four people trapped inside the badly damaged Toyota Vitz. The victims were three men and one woman.
“The crew extricated the four trapped victims from the mangled Toyota Vitz vehicle and they were confirmed dead by the National Ambulance Service who were also at the scene. They were then handed over to the Ghana Police Service,” the statement said.
Six people who were travelling on the DAF bus also sustained minor injuries and were assisted at the scene.
The GNFS said the bus was travelling from Côte d’Ivoire to Nigeria when it collided with the Toyota Vitz, which was heading towards Cape Coast.
The cause of the accident has not yet been confirmed, as investigations are ongoing.
