A military operation has led to the demolition of several structures belonging to traders and other business operators at Anloga Junction in the Oforikrom Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
Soldiers carried out the operation, pulling down container shops and wooden structures used by traders and other commercial operators in the area.
The demolition happened just nine days after tomato cargo drivers, taxi drivers and plywood workers at the location protested against what they described as a forceful attempt to remove them from the land.
On Tuesday, September 1, 2026, the affected traders and drivers took to the streets to protest an alleged eviction notice from a private developer.
The group said the developer planned to carry out a development project on the land and wanted them to leave.
The affected operators claimed they had been doing business at the location for more than 45 years. They therefore called for clarity on who owns the land and demanded that proper procedures be followed before any eviction or demolition.
They also raised questions about documents presented by the private developer as proof of ownership. The traders and drivers called on the Oforikrom Municipal Assembly to step in and help resolve the dispute.
However, the disagreement over the land remained unresolved, with both sides maintaining different positions about who should control and use the area.
