Lionel Messi is reportedly close to completing a deal to become the sole owner of Spanish second-tier club CD Eldense.
The Argentina and Inter Miami star has reached an agreement in principle to acquire 100 per cent of the shares held by Colombian investment group TH Soluciones Group S.A.S., which currently owns the club.
The proposed takeover is still subject to the necessary legal procedures and approval from Spain’s High Council for Sports.
If completed, the deal would mark another major step in Messi’s growing involvement in football club ownership. The 39-year-old already acquired full ownership of Spanish lower-league side UE Cornellà in April 2026.
Eldense, based in Elda in the Alicante province, currently compete in Spain’s Segunda División, the country’s second tier.
The club returned to the division in 2023 after a long absence, securing three consecutive promotions between 2021 and 2023.
The potential takeover comes at a difficult period for Eldense. The club have struggled at the beginning of the current campaign and recently parted ways with manager Claudio Barragán after collecting only two points from their opening four league matches.
Messi’s interest in Eldense is therefore expected to bring fresh attention and investment to the club. His involvement could also provide the Spanish side with greater international visibility as he builds a portfolio of football investments.
