The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), working together with the National Security’s Special Operations Department, has arrested two people in an intelligence-led operation at Weija in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.
The operation took place on Thursday, September 3, 2026, after undercover officers spent some time monitoring the activities of the suspects and gathering information.
The main suspect, 51-year-old Jibreel Hardi, was arrested around 11:00 a.m. while he was reportedly on his way to meet a buyer.
During a search of his vehicle, the officers found large quantities of dried leaves wrapped in polythene, suspected to be cannabis. Several packets of Tramadol were also found in the vehicle.
The team then went to Hardi’s residence, where they found more quantities of the suspected cannabis and Tramadol.
A firearm and 50 rounds of 9mm ammunition were also discovered at the house.
Hardi’s 42-year-old wife, Abiba Fatawu, was also arrested at the residence. NACOC says she is suspected of being involved as an accomplice and collaborator during the period of surveillance.
The two suspects have since been taken to the NACOC Headquarters for processing.
Meanwhile, the items seized during the operation will be sent for forensic examination as investigations into the case continue.
