Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez has joined Italian Serie A side Como on a season-long loan deal after Chelsea signed Martinez from Aston Villa.
The Spanish goalkeeper will spend the 2026/27 season in Italy as he looks to get regular playing time and continue his development.
Chelsea confirmed the move, wishing Sanchez well during his time with Como and saying the club would continue to support him throughout his stay in Italy.
Sanchez joined Chelsea from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2023 and quickly became one of the club’s main goalkeepers. He helped Chelsea to win the FIFA Club World Cup and the Europa Conference League.
However, competition for the position has increased, making a temporary move away from Stamford Bridge an opportunity for the 28-year-old to play more regularly.
During his time at Chelsea, Sanchez has made a number of appearances for the club in the Premier League and European competitions.
Chelsea will also be monitoring his progress during the season before deciding on his future when the loan spell comes to an end.
