The Supreme Court has unanimously rejected an application by the Member of Parliament for Ofoase-Ayirebi, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, seeking a review of a prior ruling that dismissed his request for an injunction against the hearing of cases during the legal vacation.
A three-member panel of the apex court decided on Wednesday.
During the earlier proceedings, Mr. Oppong Nkrumah’s lawyers requested the court to postpone the hearing of the review application, citing the delayed service of documents by the Attorney-General’s Department.
Counsel for the MP, Frank Davies, contended that the documents were served on him late and requested the court to delay the proceedings to provide him with sufficient time to respond.
Nevertheless, the Supreme Court denied the request for an adjournment and continued to hear the main application.
Mr. Oppong Nkrumah approached the Supreme Court to contest the hearing of what he referred to as selected cases during the legal vacation.
His initial application for an injunction was previously dismissed by the Court, leading him to file a review application in an effort to overturn that decision.
However, the panel unanimously rejected the review application, marking another setback for the Ofoase-Ayirebi MP in his legal challenge regarding the conduct of trials during the legal vacation.
