The Bank of Ghana (BoG) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) have warned the public against a fraudulent investment scheme known as “Daily Wealth Guide”.
The warning follows the circulation of a doctored video on social media which appears to show President John Dramani Mahama endorsing the investment platform and encouraging Ghanaians to invest in it.
In a public notice dated September 1, 2026, the two institutions cautioned the public to be careful of individuals or groups promising to make large amounts of money through the platform.
According to the BoG, the scheme involves activities that amount to deposit-taking. Under the Banks and Specialised Deposit-Taking Institutions Act, 2016 (Act 930), only institutions licensed by the Bank of Ghana are permitted to carry out deposit-taking activities.
The central bank stressed that it has not licensed any individual or entity to engage in crypto investment activities of the kind being promoted by the “Daily Wealth Guide.”
It warned that persons or organisations involved in such activities could face sanctions and may be required to refund money collected from members of the public.
The Bank also said offenders could face administrative penalties ranging from 500 to 100,000 penalty units under the Anti-Money Laundering Act, 2020 (Act 1044). Suspected offenders may also be reported to law enforcement agencies for investigation and possible prosecution.
The BoG has therefore advised the public to verify the licensing status of any individual or company before depositing money with them.
