The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is set to begin vetting 47 aspirants who have successfully submitted their nominations to contest the party’s 2026 National Officers Elections.
The vetting will begin on Monday, August 31, and end on Thursday, September 3. This follows the close of nominations at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 29.
The National Officers Elections Committee (NOEC) said all 47 aspirants completed and submitted their nomination forms within the required period.
The number is three fewer than the 50 people who initially purchased nomination forms to contest the various national executive positions.
Bernard Antwi Boasiako, who bought a nomination form to contest the National Chairperson position, has officially withdrawn from the race.
Evans Kodom has also withdrawn from the contest for National Communications Director. This leaves Dennis Miracles Aboagye as the only aspirant for the position, subject to passing the vetting and meeting all other requirements.
Perpetual Ekua Lomokie Akwada, who bought a form to contest the National Women Organiser position, failed to submit her completed nomination forms before the deadline. She will therefore not take part in the vetting exercise.
The aspirants for National Chairperson, General Secretary and National Treasurer will be vetted on Monday, August 31.
The National Vice Chairperson aspirants will appear before the committee on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, September 2, the committee will vet aspirants for National Organiser and National Youth Organiser.
The exercise will end on Thursday, when the committee vets aspirants for National Communications Director, National Nasara Organiser and National Women Organiser.
The NOEC said each aspirant will be contacted with information about their vetting date, time, venue and other requirements.
The committee has also asked all aspirants to remain available through their registered contact details and respond quickly to messages and other communications from the NOEC Secretariat and Vetting Committee.
