Lecturer in the Department of Communications Studies at the University of Ghana (UG), Dr. Aurelia Ayisi, has announced that the university has extended the admissions period for selected programmes within the School of Information and Communication Studies, allowing prospective students to apply until September 18, 2026.
Speaking in an interview, Dr. Ayisi stated that this extension offers a new chance for applicants who may have overlooked the original admissions deadline.
“Recently the admissions were extended, so for those of you listening and thought that you missed the admission deadline, you haven’t,” she said in an interview monitored by The Ghana Report on Joy FM.
She urged prospective students to seize this opportunity and submit their applications before the new deadline.
Admissions are open for programmes provided by both the Department of Communication Studies and the Department of Information Studies.
The Department of Information Studies offers postgraduate programmes, including a Master’s in Information Studies, an MPhil in Information Studies, and a PhD in Information Studies.
Dr. Ayisi clarified that the Master’s in Information Studies is available in both regular and sandwich formats, catering to the needs of various student groups.
The Department of Communication Studies also provides postgraduate programmes, including the MA in Communication Studies, MA in Strategic Communication, MPhil in Communication Studies, and PhD in Communication Studies.
The MA in Strategic Communication is available in both regular and flexible formats, allowing students to attend classes in the evenings and on weekends.
According to Dr. Ayisi, the flexible programme has garnered significant interest and is performing exceptionally well.
