Member of Parliament (MP) for Kpandai Constituency, Hon Matthew Nyindam, has disclosed that former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko was initially hesitant to run for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairmanship.
However, he ultimately decided to enter the race after receiving encouragement from several party members.
During an appearance on Asempa FM Eko Si Sen, Nyindam expressed that party members feel Agyarko’s leadership is essential to tackle the internal issues facing the NPP.
“Boakye was not ready, but the call from us made him consider standing for the NPP chairmanship,” he stated.
Hon Nyindam emphasised that Agyarko’s choice to run is motivated by a commitment to unify the party, restore discipline, and prepare the NPP for success in the 2028 general election.
“Boakye’s idea is to come together to unite the party, bring discipline into the party, and help bring victory for the party in 2028,” he said.
Additionally, he expressed his support for Justin Frimpong Kodua for the General Secretary position, suggesting that a leadership collaboration between Agyarko and Kodua could facilitate the transformation he believes the NPP requires.
“The partnership between these two will bring the transformation,” Nyindam stated.
