President John Dramani Mahama has made more changes to his government, including moving Deputy Defence Minister Ernest Brogya Genfi from the Ministry of Defence to the Presidency.
Brogya Genfi has been reassigned to serve as an Adviser on National Resilience and Emergency Preparedness. He had been serving as Deputy Defence Minister since his appointment in March 2025.
In another change, Emmanuel Agyekum, who was the Minister of State in charge of Special Initiatives, has been moved to the Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment.
Dr. Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo will take over from Agyekum as the Minister of State in charge of Special Initiatives.
The latest changes are part of President Mahama’s second ministerial reshuffle since he began his second term. The first reshuffle was announced on August 7, 2026.
During the August reshuffle, Kenneth Gilbert Adjei was moved from the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources to the Ministry of Defence.
Ahmed Ibrahim was also reassigned from the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs to take charge of the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources.
The latest changes are expected to take effect as the government continues to adjust its team and assign officials to different roles.
