Brighton & Hove Albion players have extended a special gesture to their supporters by agreeing to refund the match ticket costs of 407 fans who travelled to the Arctic Circle for the club’s UEFA Conference League playoff against Norwegian side Tromsø.
The supporters faced a long journey to northern Norway after Brighton were drawn against Tromsø in the European competition. The trip was also arranged at short notice, making the commitment of the travelling fans particularly significant.
Brighton confirmed that the supporters will receive refunds for their match tickets, while each fan will also be given a scarf and a T-shirt as a special gift. The refunds are expected to be paid in the days following the match.
Brighton captain Lewis Dunk explained that the players wanted to show their appreciation for the supporters who made the difficult trip.
He said the fans only knew their destination at the last minute and had to organise the long journey within a short period. The players therefore decided to make the gesture as a way of starting the new season positively with their supporters.
The match against Tromsø is particularly important for Brighton as it marks their first competitive game of the 2026/27 season. The club qualified for the Conference League playoff after finishing eighth in the Premier League last season.
Tromsø earned their place in the playoff after defeating Romanian club CFR Cluj 7-1 on aggregate in the previous round.
