GAUA suspends strike to allow further dialogue with FWSC

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA) has suspended its ongoing strike.

The Association stated that this suspension will remain in place until after a planned meeting with the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.

As per the NEC, this decision aims to facilitate further discussions with the FWSC, the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), and the Minister for Education to address the issues that prompted the industrial action.

Members have also been asked to remain alert for any additional updates from the NEC following the meeting on August 25.

The NEC conveyed its gratitude to members for their solidarity, commitment, and cooperation during the strike and encouraged them to continue supporting the Association as negotiations advance.

The results of the August 25 meeting are anticipated to influence the Association’s subsequent course of action.
