The management of VIP Jeoun has confirmed that one of its coaches ignited while it was stationary, preparing for a scheduled journey from Abuakwa in the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipality to Accra.
This incident took place on Saturday, August 15, with no injuries reported as the coach was not in motion and had no passengers aboard.
Management indicated that the coach, which bears the registration number GT 6770-18, was set to begin loading and boarding passengers at 9:30 p.m.
The conductor, Kwaku Apai, reportedly observed smoke emanating from the coach at approximately 6:45 p.m. and promptly turned off its power supply.
He then notified the station supervisor, who reached out to the Ghana National Fire Service for assistance.
Management confirmed that a replacement coach was provided to ensure the scheduled journey could continue while the appropriate authorities investigated the cause of the fire and worked to clear the debris.
