Neymar hints at Brazil national team exit

Brazil football superstar Neymar has indicated that his time with the national team may have come to an end, bringing an emotional chapter in his international career closer to a possible conclusion.

The 34-year-old forward revealed that he believes his journey with the Brazilian national team, known as the Seleção, has reached its final stage, saying he no longer feels the desire to continue wearing the famous yellow shirt.

In an emotional statement, Neymar reflected on his years representing Brazil, describing the experience as one filled with unforgettable moments, sacrifices and achievements.

“My moment with the Seleção has passed, it’s over. I made history there, I’m very happy, I lived a lot of things there. I bled there, I gave my life as I always fought for the yellow shirt, but I don’t think I want it anymore,” Neymar said.

Neymar made his senior debut for Brazil in 2010 and went on to become the country’s all-time leading goal scorer, surpassing the legendary Pelé’s record.

During his international career, he represented Brazil at several major tournaments, including the FIFA World Cup, Copa América and Olympic Games.

One of the highlights of Neymar’s career with the Seleção came in 2016 when he helped Brazil win its first Olympic football gold medal at the Rio Games.

He also played a key role in Brazil’s attacking setup for more than a decade, becoming the face of the national team after the retirement of previous icons.

Despite his individual brilliance, Neymar’s international career was also marked by disappointment, particularly at the World Cup.

Brazil suffered painful exits during the 2014, 2018, 2022 and 2026 tournaments, with injuries also affecting his participation at crucial moments.

Although Neymar has not officially submitted a retirement letter to the Brazilian Football Confederation, his remarks signal a likely farewell to international football.
